"Spratt Eller Snask" is a short album about coming and going; an album made for shorter, everyday travel.

After several years and albums featuring very focused drum programming, I had since long decided to make an album without any drums, an album focused on typical "Awt melodies".

The music on this album contains melodies that I wrote as early as '03 that were unfinished or barely started. They are pieces that couldn't be overlooked any longer. Making this album was an excellent opportunity for me to gather the melodies that were personal to me and turn them into finished tracks. This doesn't mean that this album is filled with old leftovers - there is music from '05 as well as '04 on it too.

This is not electronica and it's not ambient, this is just Awtmusic.

Anders

It isn't easy to describe the sound of this record. The music lives on its own planet, orbiting somewhere nearby Walter Carlos's "A Clockwork Orange" theme and having its waves gravitationally pulled around by the moon of Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works". Yet despite the pretentious space metaphor, the music isn't alienated or detached. It is well grounded in a feeling of warm familiarity.

What makes this original is not the vintage-y synth sounds themselves, but they way Awt chose to use them. In a post-drill-n-bass world, we have a virtually drum-less album of non-ambient synth compositions. But it's not like he forgot to leave them in. The focus of this record is the melodies, chord progressions, harmonies, etc. Beautiful and lush-sounding compositions that are so rich on their own, they don't need anything extra. No gimmicks or Amen breaks here - just solid compositions.
