[ information ]

Daniel Mass is a Swedish composer and producer. He has focused on experimental electronic music and typically performs at museums and other fine arts foundations. Though, he has also been part of a dance music compilation and used to perform beats with the punk trio kontraband.

Daniel is a customer service manager by day and a devoted husband and dog owner by night. His wife Mikaela and his dog Mir always come first. Luckily they're quite often a big part in the music making process (Mir not so much, but at least he's not in opposition). Mikaela is a classically trained musician which comes in handy more often than not. The Dirty EP, however, is a solo effort.

Now, what's your view on this release Daniel?

- By my standards, I created this record in a fairly short amount of time. That's about a month or so. Originally there where ten tracks but only four and a half of them made it to the EP.

My main goal was to make something really raw and deliberately unpolished. Early on I decided to cut reverbs out of the equation to make the sound even more sinister and focused. There's way to much reverb in electronica these days, as ever, anyway. I'll let this release be a desolate tract in a sea of cathedral housed synthesizer blips and I believe others will find that to be as much of a pleasurable breather as I do.

To me, this is a "do" evoking style of music. I picture my audience cleaning their house or apartment, jogging or weightlifting, dancing at a party and/or having rough sex. The Dirty EP seems to accommodate all of these activities in an apt fashion.

So, now it's time to download the zip, turn the volume up, fetch your broom and press play.
